Timeline of the Quran
The First Revelation (Surah Al-Alaq)
The first revelation occurred when the Angel Jibril appeared to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Cave of Hira in Makkah. This marked the beginning of the Quran’s revelation.
Revelation of Early Surahs
Some of the earliest revelations were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during a time when the Muslim community in Makkah faced persecution. These early surahs offered comfort and encouragement, emphasizing patience, perseverance, and faith in Allah.
The Quran’s preservation & compilation
As the Quran continued to be revealed over 23 years, many companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) memorized its verses. After the Prophet’s passing, under Caliphs Abu Bakr and Uthman, efforts to compile and preserve the Quran into a single, unified written text were undertaken, ensuring its transmission for future generations.
The Quran read by millions worldwide
Today, millions of Muslims around the world recite and memorize the Quran. It remains the most recited book in the world, with its guidance followed by billions in every corner of the globe.
